This is where people thrive

No two people need the same support. But still, the ultimate goal of our support is always the same: to help you thrive in the life you want to live.

We’ve drawn on voices and experiences across the Choice community, as well as outside research, to develop a framework for healthy, happy lives. We call it ‘Thrive at Choice’ and it sets out the six priorities for the support we offer.

Here’s what we believe great care should feel like.

1

Living in a place we call home

Home is comfort, security, privacy and personality, all rolled into one place. So it’s only right that you get to decide on the things that make your home feel like home.

The furniture, colours and decorations you like. Cosy cushions on your bed and your favourite pictures on the walls. House pets and home appliances. Who you invite to visit and when. Your space, your choices.

2

Leading the lives we want to live

Our interests make us who we are. Our goals tell us who we could be. By supporting both, we’re here to empower you in pursuing what’s important to you, in your life.

Maybe you want to go to college or get a job you love; maybe there’s a hobby you’ve always wanted to try. We’re here to provide encouragement, advice and support as you plan your way to your best life. That’s something we can all take pride in.

3

Surrounded by people we trust

With the right people around us, we feel free to be ourselves and safe to try new things. That’s why healthy relationships are at the heart of our Thrive framework.

We support quality time with your friends and family, as well as opening doors to new friendships. And right there in the middle of your circle of trust is your support team, who you can rely on 100% to be on your side and in your corner.

4

Understanding and being understood

We all feel valued and respected when we know we’re being listened to. Recognising this, our team takes the time and care to tune into everyone’s unique communication styles.

It’s not always about finding the right words. Not all of us have them; none of us have them all the time. But say it or show it, however you’re comfortable expressing yourself, your voice will be heard here.

5

Sharing power as equals

If you draw on our support, you and your close circle are best placed to tell us what’s going well and what could be done better. So with Choice, you’ll be actively involved in important decisions about what care looks like.

In your own life, that means leading on decisions like meals, pastimes, home decor and visitors. More widely, your daily feedback gives us valued insights into how we can keep improving our support for everyone. And if sharing your opinion is something you enjoy doing, you might like to be employed as one of our Expert Quality Auditors.

6

Communities where we all truly belong

We gain so much from giving back to our local communities – new skills and friendships, greater self-worth and a vital sense of belonging.

That’s why we support you in working to make a positive difference in our neighbourhoods.
