The Wales Care Awards are a celebration of excellence across the Welsh care sector, showcasing best practice and recognising people who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their field.
The category Maria has been shortlisted in, recognises managers who lead by example, champion best practice, develop their teams and put the people they support and their families at the heart of everything they do.
Maria was nominated by the team at Choice Care for her exceptional leadership and dedication to the people she supports, their families and her colleagues. Maria began her career at CWC leading a team of five colleagues, which has since grown to a team of 23. She is now the Service Manager of Supported Living for five people. Her commitment goes far beyond her day-to-day role, with her kindness and person-centred approach making a genuine difference to the quality of care and support people receive.
Her impact has been recognised not only within Choice Care, but by external partners and families. A Senior Social Worker at Swansea Council praised her “exceptional professionalism, expertise and unwavering dedication”, while a family member described Maria and her team as “something special and the best I have ever seen.”
Maria’s contribution has had a profound impact on the lives of the people she supports and their families. She has also been recognised for her outstanding work through the 2025 Choice Care Group Colleague Awards, where she won the Group Operations Director Award for her exceptional work.
The 2026 Wales Care Awards will be announced at a grand award ceremony on 16 October 2026 at Holland House Hotel in Cardiff.
