Eco-friendly lodges opened by the Mayor of Swindon
The Mayor of Swindon officially opened two new carbon-negative homes, Marlborough Lodges, in Swindon on Tuesday 2nd June. The lodges have been custom designed to create homes for two people with learning disabilities, autism or mental health needs who draw on social care support.
Purchased and developed in partnership with iSupported Living Properties, Choice Care will be providing support in these beautiful new homes. The lodges have been designed to help people live more independently – each one has its own kitchen, lounge, dining area, bedroom, terrace and front door!
The Mayor of Swindon, Councillor Neil Hopkins says:
‘I think Marlborough Lodges are just terrific and the support provided for the people in your care is so important. These new homes will provide great accommodation and support for people with mental health needs and learning disabilities. I’m delighted to formally open Marlborough Lodges and I wish you and the tenants lots of happiness and every success in the future.’
Raf Gac, Assistant Operations Director at Choice Care says: ‘Marlborough Lodges are a versatile way of creating new homes for people, designed to meet their needs. We hope the lodges will give future tenants something really special – their own home, garden and place to lead the life they want to live.’
Valerie Michie, CEO at Choice Care says: ‘We’re incredibly pleased to have the opportunity to support people in these beautiful new lodges. We look forward to welcoming people who will not only appreciate these wonderful new homes, but truly thrive here.’
With excellent ecological credentials, the lodges will deliver real social value that will make a big difference to people’s lives.
