We are delighted to announce that The Old Orchard in Newark has received an ‘Outstanding’ rating from its recent CQC inspection!
The Old Orchard is a residential service which supports up to 6 adults with learning disabilities and/or autism. This was the CQC’s first inspection of the service since it first joined Choice Care in 2022.
The CQC report rated The Old Orchard as ‘Outstanding’ across all five areas: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-Led, which is a huge achievement. It recognised that the service was delivering exceptional care, with strong leaders and teams fully committed to making a positive difference in people’s lives.
The report highlighted that people had very positive relationships with their care team, with colleagues exhibiting a deep understanding of each person’s needs, preferences and communication style, thus giving tailored and highly personalised care. The report also recognised a strong culture of safety, with care teams actively listening and acting where needed, whilst always showing great care, compassion and inclusion.
Greg Rielly, CQC’s Deputy Director of adult social care in the East Midlands said:
“We found accomplish these. This approach meant people made progress at their own pace and experienced a strong sense of achievement.”
Relatives of people at The Old Orchard told the CQC that their loved ones had made progress since moving there – particularly with emotional wellbeing, confidence and stability. Relatives said they trusted the team at The Old Orchard and especially valued their open communication.
