Introducing Wye Lodge

We’re very excited to announce that we have just opened Wye Lodge, a new, carbon-negative home near the village of Huntley, in Gloucestershire. The lodge has been custom designed and built with our property partners, to create a home for a person with learning disabilities and mental health needs, who draws on social care support.

We worked with Agile Homes to provide this beautiful new Supported Living home. The lodge has been designed to support someone to live more independently with its own kitchen, lounge and dining area, ensuite bedroom, garden and terrace.

Agile’s homes have excellent ecological and sociological credentials and are built with super insulated straw, wood fibre and timber panels – made off-site by prisoners taking part in the UK’s Release on Temporary Licence (ROTL) scheme, then transported and assembled on site.

Raf Gac, Assistant Operations Director at Choice Care says:

“The lodge is a versatile way of creating new, bespoke spaces for people with learning disabilities and mental health needs. It allows us to make good use of an unused piece of land, while giving people something special – their own home. Delivered and installed on site as a single unit, minimising disruption to the local community, the lodge is a practical and innovative solution that will make a big difference to people’s lives.”

Valerie Michie, CEO at Choice Care says:

“We’re really excited about this new opportunity to support someone in this beautiful new lodge. We have worked with our local social care partners and health professionals to find someone who will really appreciate – and thrive – in this new home.”
