Parkview is a large, detached house registered to provide support for nine men and women with moderate to severe learning disabilities, autism, multiple disabilities and associated complex needs. The home is located opposite a large park in the middle of Tilehurst village, two miles from Reading town centre.
Parkview has eight, good-sized single bedrooms, four on the ground floor, four upstairs, with a spacious main lounge, a smaller quiet lounge, a dining room and well-equipped kitchen. In addition, the home offers a further one-bedroom annexe, where a resident can develop day-today living skills in preparation for moving on to a more independent environment.
The home has a dedicated day services building set in the large grounds, which provides areas for sensory stimulation and relaxation, arts and crafts activities and music therapy, and an education room with computer facilities.
Current residents range from their mid-twenties to early fifties, with a mix of quiet and lively personalities. Forty experienced and passionate staff provide 24-hour care and support, assisted by Choice’s in house Positive Behavioural Support Team.
In addition, the home has its own transport for local travel and regular leisure, recreational and educational trips.
