Boxgrove House is a large detached home registered for 11 individuals, situated within its own spacious grounds in Tilehurst. It overlooks the Pangbourne Downs and is near to shops and pubs. Boxgrove House currently provides support to male adults with moderate to severe learning disabilities, sensory impairments and associated complex needs.
Seven of the bedrooms are on the ground floor, all of which have en-suite facilities, with a further three bedrooms on the first floor with a separate bathroom. There are two further bathrooms on the ground floor, one of which is equipped with a hoist for access to the bath and a wheelchair-accessible shower for residents with additional mobility issues.
Additional accommodation includes a large lounge, two separate living room areas and a spacious dining room. Leading out from the lounge is a large back garden which overlooks the surrounding fields and countryside. There is also a separate day services building, providing areas for relaxation, sensory, computer and creative activities. In addition we have two vehicles for leisure, recreational and educational trips and activities in the community.
In addition to the 10 bed main house, Boxgrove also has a separate annex. This is currently home to a man with very specific physical and behavioural requirements who requires a bespoke living environment designed to his individual needs.
The annex has its own private garden which is fully wheelchair accessible as this is where the individual likes to spend most of his time. The en-suite bathroom is fitted with a ceiling tracker hoist and there are various pieces of assistive technology within the property, to promote independence and reduce this man’s reliance on staff.
Since moving into this annex, the outcomes for this individual have been exceptional; his mobility and behaviour have improved significantly and he is clearly extremely happy!
