We talk to Reece, one of our Senior Recruiters.

DATE: 03.07.2023

Meet Reece, one of our senior recruiters at Choice Care who started s a senior Social care Worker in 2019:

What do you typically do in a day in your role?
I cover all aspects of recruiting for the West Region which covers homes from Salisbury all the way up to Chesterfield and Lincolnshire as well as in Wales and more locations in the middle of these areas. I work on all the logistics of advertising our roles. I will speak to all applicants to discuss the role they have applied for – whatever the role. I use my own personal experience in care as I have worked in the industry for 6 years and covered a range of areas, from supported living to domiciliary and residential care. I then arrange interviews with managers and support in conducting interviews myself, when needed.

What do you particularly enjoy about your role?
The one aspect of my role that particularly stands out for me is when I contact applicants who have never worked in care, as I get to tell them my experience in all aspects of care. I feel this can have a big impact,  as I understand how it feels to have never worked in this setting before – it can be quite scary to put your foot in the door. Once applicants come and engage with me down the line, I feel proud that I have supported someone to help them with a new career path and to open more opportunities for their futures.

Can you tell us about how your role has developed in Choice Care?
I started as a senior support worker at Coppice House, where my goal was to develop as I wanted to go on to my level 3 in Health and Social Care. I then moved to be a Junior Recruiter and was promoted to Senior Recruiter.

What did you do before you joined Choice Care?
Before joining choice care I worked as a support worker for another company.

Are your colleagues supportive? If so, tell us more…
Absolutely! From the moment I started working as a recruiter the HR team has been very supportive. if I have anything I am unsure of when getting a specific request from a manager - or something I have not dealt with previously - they are all quick to help with this  - I feel very lucky to have found such an amazing team.
