Walking the extra mile for a life-saving cause

DATE: 30.04.2024

The sun shone brightly as the Choice Care Defibrillator fundraising team got together on the morning of Sunday April 21st to start their Jurassic Coast walk, a challenging route filled with steep cliff climbs and breath-taking views!

A team made up of people from Heywood Sumner House, Otterbourne House, Ravenna Lodge, Portchester Lodge, the Referrals team, the Business Development team, the Positive Behaviour Support team and the Operations team met up bright and early to take on the challenge to raise money for the Choice Care defibrillator fund. The route, which is 10 miles long is a real challenge.

The start was very gentle - along the seafront. Then over a small hill, past some small beaches to the Smugglers Inn in Osmington. That’s when the challenge really begins. The cliff top path continues on past Ringstead and above Burning Cliff beach. It passes St Catherine-by-the-Sea church and then becomes an undulating cliff edge walk, ending on four very steep and challenging hills.

Ewa Golabek, one of the participants, said: "WE DID IT.... Jurassic Coast walk challenge completed. Well done Team Jurassic Coast Walk. Great effort from start to finish. Challenging walk with lots of steep hills but the views made up for the struggles. Everyone was so positive and in great spirits. Thank you for all your kind donations!'

Huge congratulations to the team who collectively raised over £3,200 for the defibrillator fund! Thank you to everyone who participated, donated, and supported the Choice Care team!

Even though the walk is completed, the fundraising continues. If you'd like to contribute to this life-saving cause, you can still donate to the defibrillator fund. Every donation, no matter how small, can literally save a life!
