One of the people we support in one of our Wales services has taken up volunteer dog walking and absolutely loves it. This is what he told us about his new role:
I live at Nant Leiros residential home in Neath, South Wales. I enjoy walking and also love being around animals, especially dogs. Therefore, I have combined two of my favourite activities and now volunteer as a dog walker at RSPCA Llys Nini Dogs Trust in Swansea.
I volunteer once a week, where I walk the dogs on the private land owned by the RSPCA.
I started volunteering only a few weeks ago and absolutely love walking the dogs. It gives me a massive sense of achievement and pride knowing I am helping to improve the quality of the dogs’ lives as they are in kennels for long periods of time each day, and being able to go for walks makes a big difference to them as they get exercise and have fun at the same time.’
