National Apprenticeship Week - we celebrated in style!

DATE: 29.02.2024

We had a fantastic National Apprenticeship Week from 5th to 9th February, as we celebrated all our wonderful learners, past and present at Choice Care!

We kicked off the week's celebrations with a focus on Apprenticeships for All, the opening theme, and the opportunities available across Choice Care for people wanting to learn. We took a look at how our apprenticeship programmes are suitable for everyone here at Choice Care.

As the week progressed, we looked at other learning-related themes. Employee Tuesday spotlighted Choice Care’s commitment to excellence in learning and how qualifications can help our people’s careers grow. Apprentice Wednesday celebrated the learners themselves and we spoke to apprentices across the organisation. Choice Care currently has 175 individuals engaged in learning, and we’ve been in the top 100 Apprenticeship Employers list for two consecutive years.

Throughout the week we explored apprentice success stories, showcasing the wide-ranging benefits people have realised. We spoke to Cara from Lifetime Training , our training partner, about the support people receive when learning at Choice Care. We also got an insight into the Day in the life of our learners here with a fab video showing the rewards and benefits of pursuing a career in care, while enhancing the lives of the people we support.

Emily, a Team Leader at Stroud Lodge, shared her experience as an apprentice, highlighting the support and opportunities provided by Choice Care. Through apprenticeships, people like Emily are not only gaining valuable skills but also progressing their careers within Choice Care.

We wrapped up the week with Celebration Friday, where we celebrated outstanding apprentices like Deborah (South Region), Jamelia (West region), and Samantha (East region), who each won Outstanding apprentice awards in our 2023 colleague awards.

All of our learners received personalised chocolate bars as a small token of appreciation - here's some of them enjoying their treats!

Emma Hawke, Head of HR-Learning and Development sums up the week: If you are looking at a career in care, it’s so worth learning at Choice Care. Working in the care sector can be incredibly rewarding, as well as the opportunity to make a real and lasting difference to the lives of the people we support. Learning can help you gain valuable skills – whether  you're embarking on your career journey or seeking to progress, there's a welcoming place for you here at Choice Care.
