Meet the Team - introducing Chris

DATE: 16.02.2024

We talk to Chris, Bid and Proposal Manager who started at Choice Care in October 2023.

Can you tell us about your new role please?
I am responsible for leading on new bids and proposals. Ensuring high quality tenders are submitted accurately and reflecting the great work achieved across the group.

Where did you work before?
I worked for a housing association called A2Dominion, where I was responsible for tendering for new opportunities within their care and support services including, homelessness, domestic abuse, young people, young parents, and older persons services. Prior to that I have worked within homelessness and vulnerable adults’ services for most of my career.

What made you want to join Choice Care?
Choice appealed to me as an opportunity to develop new skills and understanding. Choice stood out as an organisation that supports people to develop.

What will you typically do in a day in your new role?
I spend my time seeking out new opportunities with our local authority partners, writing tenders or proposals and gathering input from colleagues and the people who use our services to build strong bids showcasing the work the that we do.

What are you particularly looking forward to your new role?
I am looking forward to meeting new people, learning about a new sector of social care and visiting our services and the people who live and work there.

Are your colleagues supportive?
We have been very busy with lots of tenders since I started, and I have really appreciated the support of colleagues from across the group, helping to create content (often at very short notice) and putting together complex bids for services in addition to their usual roles.

What do you do when you are not at Choice Care?
We are currently renovating our house, so we haven’t had much opportunity for hobbies, but I love DIY so it is a hobby of sorts. I like to take our French Bulldog Major out for walks with my wife and daughter. I love music, movies and reading. Although since my subscription to a talking books platform, I don’t think I’ve actually picked up a real book in few years.
