Local Hero of The Year

We are delighted to share with you that Valeriy, Manager of Clarendon House in Salisbury has recently won the ‘Local Hero of the Year’ category in the Wiltshire Live Awards!

Valeriy came to the UK from Ukraine 15 years ago with his wife, and they now have a son.

As well as his excellent work managing Clarendon House, Valeriy has been instrumental in supporting Ukrainian families arriving in Salisbury and surrounding villages with his work for the Salisbury Community Hub for Ukraine. With now over 189 members in the WhatsApp group which he set up and150 Ukrainian families in the community, this is no small task, but Valeriy puts so much work into it. Valeriy has helped people to find work at Choice Care and supports newly arrived families to find accommodation, schools, medical services and more. He is at the heart of planning social activities and fundraising for Community Hub.

The local community have said Valeriy 'is utterly dependable and never says no to anything or anyone. He is always cheerful and deeply caring of every single member of the Salisbury Community Hub for Ukraine, whether British, Ukrainian or any other nationality.'

Valeriy says: ‘I am very grateful for the recognition of my work for Choice Care and for the community I live in. Thankyou for the support our company and my managers provided me with at the beginning of the war in Ukraine. This is an amazing achievement not just for me, but for all those who helped me through this difficult time in my life.’
