International PBS Conference

DATE: 31.05.2024

The PBS team at Choice Care had a fantastic time at the International Positive Behaviour Support Conference hosted by BILD last week. The conference is a really important date in the diary for the PBS team, with the theme: ‘Shifting the narrative: Improving lives through practice leadership in PBS’.

Roxanne Law, our Clinical & Family Support Practice Lead and Dimitrios Charizanis, our Clinical Lead of the PBS Team attended the conference in Liverpool, while the broader PBS team joined the conference virtually.

Roxanne said: ‘It was great to learn and come out with some new ideas! The focus was on Practice Leadership, which is specialists that can lead by example, turning theory into practice and supporting staff to consistently implement what they have learned from training. Practice leadership in a care setting creates a well-organized, supportive, and high-quality environment that benefits residents through improved care, personalised attention, and a positive, empowering atmosphere which contributes to increased quality of life.

Dimitrios says: ‘We had a great time and there are so many ideas to bring back. Really looking forward to sharing the inspired ideas from this amazing industry.’

One of our team members from the West PBS team said: ‘It is great to continue our professional development and ensure we are up to date with progress in PBS. Hearing from experts by experience, Practitioners, and professionals to discuss and reflect on the value of good practice leadership in seeing positive benefits for individuals! Lots of passion for our role! Thank you to Choice Care for supporting us to join this!’
