How do we get more men to work in social care?

In a recent article in the Guardian, they stated that “Only 18% of social care workers are male – so what’s being done to attract more into the sector?” This raises a good point about the stereotypes that are still prevalent in social care. It is still commonly viewed that social care ‘isn’t a job for men’, and therefore this trend of an overwhelming majority of the workforce being female has continued.

At Choice Care, we have many valued and respected male staff members who love their job in social care, but much like our competitors we have more female applicants than we do male. It begs the question why is this still something that most people believe, but also how do we prove this stereotype wrong?
