Choiceversary – Congratulations

DATE: 14.02.2024

We talk to Ewa, Business Development Manager and Deputy Head of Referrals, who has been with Choice Care since 2009 - Lets find out more!

Congratulations on your Choiceversary – how many years have you been at Choice Care and when did you start?
I have just celebrated my 15th anniversary with Choice Care, I started back in January 2009.

What made you decide to take the role at Choice are initially?
I was working in a coffee shop, and I saw an advert, looking for social care workers. I already had experience of supporting children with learning disabilities and also have a brother with Down’s Syndrome so helping others has always been high on my priorities. I applied and here we are, 15 years later!

How has your role progressed during your time here?
Well back in 2009 I started as a social care worker at Twynham in New Milton. I worked there for four and a half years before moving to a deputy role at Ocknell Park. From there it just escalated - I worked at several services before opening Compton House as a Registered Manager back in 2015. Once CQC rated us Good in all areas and the house had no more resident vacancies I felt it was time for another challenge. That’s when I joined Referrals. I have also moved a couple of positions since then.

What do you are you particularly love about your role?
The role I am in now is a bit of a hybrid one. I am working alongside my colleagues in developing new services as well as still deputising for the Head of Referrals. Both positions are different and very satisfying. I am often the first person to meet a potential referral. I meet a lot of interesting people and hear about their stories. Each day can be so different.

How would you sum up working at Choice Care?
I like how Choice celebrates the people we support!

Are your colleagues supportive?
Absolutely, you can feel how dedicated everyone is! I work with people that are very compassionate and encouraging. I feel supported in my work and personal development.
