Congratulations on your Choiceversary, Kay! How many years have you been at Choice Care and when did you start?
I have been with Choice Care for 25 years, and started on 5 October 1998.
What made you decide to take the role at Choice Care initially?
In my previous job I had come across young adults with mental health and behavioural issues and this always interested me. Also the hours were flexible and I was able to work around my children at the time.
How has your role progressed during your time here?
I started off as a support worker in 1998 and progressed to deputy manager after 3 years. I held this position until I was asked to be a manager.
What do you particularly love about your role?
Over the years of my employment, we as a team have supported residents to progress back into the community and live independently. We also helped individuals to reduce self-harm by providing a safe and homely atmosphere within their home.
How would you sum up working at Choice Care?
Progression within Choice Care is really encouraged, they offer good training and support from the line managers is there when you need it. I really enjoy my job because of the diversity of it.
Are your colleagues supportive?
We all work as a team and are very supportive of each other.
