Celebrating Sophie's 5 year Choiceversary!

DATE: 29.02.2024

We talk to Sophie, bank social care worker at Cambria House....

What made you decide to take the role at Choice are initially?
I took the role at Choice originally because I had not long arrived in England, and I had past experience working with people with a learning disability, so I thought I would be suited to the role.

How has your role progressed during your time here?
My experience helped me to progress quickly. My role changed as the need for it and responsibilities of the home grew. I went from social care worker to shift leader, to senior. I am currently working a bank worker as I am studying at university.

What do you particularly like about your role?
What I love the most about the role is getting to make the guys laugh, chat with them and help them feel like Cambria is home. I also enjoy being able to encourage them to look towards something for the future, such as football games to see, or wrestling events.

How would you sum up working at Choice Care?
The team has really come together in recent times and I feel that the we have a really strong group of colleagues who all work together for the best of people we support. I also see that staff are encouraging each other to strive further in the job role, such as to senior positions and so forth, which is great.

What did you do before you joined Choice Care?
Before Choice Care I was a domestic abuse support worker.
