Intensive Interaction

This is a practical approach to interacting with people with learning difficulties and / or autism who do not find it easy communicating or being social. The training aims are:-

Introducing the theory behind and approach of Intensive Interaction, which was developed by M. Nind and D.Hewett in the 80’s / 90’s, to help teach pre-speech fundamentals of communication to children and adults with severe learning disability and or Autism, who are still at a very early stage of communication development.
To help staff develop the skills to carry out Intensive Interaction sessions / times with their service users, in order to develop their social skills, communicative abilities, emotional well-being, relationships and promote constructive interaction with their immediate environment.
The training incorporates use of video footage of Intensive Interaction in action, and gives staff time to try the approach in role play with each other.
