Testimonials
We strive hard to form relationships with every parent whose son or daughter comes to live in our homes.
Whilst we will never replace anyone’s family, our aim is to provide support, friendship and guidance to each individual living in our care, promoting and encouraging their skills, independence and healthy lifestyle.
If a service user’s family or friends do have any concerns, we strive hard to resolve and settle them in a very proactive, honest and open manner. It is therefore very rewarding on occasions to receive letters and personal comments from parents thanking us for our care and support of their loved ones.
Here is a selection of their comments:
-
“Thank you very much for accepting ‘A’ into your new home. It is such a relief that he seems to have settled so quickly and made a new friend in ‘J’ who also loves watching Abba on DVD and is a fan of Reading Football Club.”
-
“The train journey back to London was really easy as he seemed to cope much better with John, his key worker than he ever has done with us before. Whilst it was great to have him for the weekend, he was really keen to leave and get back to Reading and his home and new mates as he calls them.”
-
“Over the last 3 years it has been such a frustrating time trying to find a home suitable to meet the needs of my son. I would like to say to anyone that feels they are not being listened to, don’t give up! The company were recommended to us, and from our initial telephone call we felt important. The staff involved him and us, the family, and we were helped and advised along the long road from getting the funding in place through to transition and eventually the right placement, now his home.”
-
“The manager and her staff take a lot of time in their duties and regularly keep in contact with my husband and I, not just when there’s a problem, but when something good has happened or been achieved.“
-
“I would like to thank you for bringing “D” to Victoria’s wedding and for helping him enjoy the occasion so much. The care and attention you gave to him and the trust and rapport that has developed between you both is impressive and was noticed by everyone.”
-
“I know that your kind attention towards “K” has had an important influence on his health, so that he may not need to use any medication. In the short time that “K” has stayed with you, he has had some positive behavioural changes.”
-
“I was personally delighted and impressed to see “A” communicating with signs and words for the first time, this is a great achievement, and may the good work continue.”
-
“How great it was to find a home nearby to us in the Forest, it meant that ‘J’ could still visit regularly and his love for horses and countryside is so important to him.”
-
“We knew it was going to be a difficult time not only for “R” but also for us as parents. After 9 years in a special school from a child to a now 6’2” man, moving into a new home was both frightening and anxious for everyone. From the first phone call to the final meeting we felt involved, even down to helping to choose the colour of his room and choice of Man United curtains - “R’s” favourite team.”
-
“The funding for “S” was a complete nightmare and such a lengthy process of red tape and countless meetings. Luckily we were supported behind the scenes by the staff and encouraged not to give up hope. Thank goodness someone believed in us and “S”.”
-
“Sorting out all her benefits and understanding what my daughter is entitled to has always been a nightmare. Moving into your home was great because we could talk to someone at head office that knows the system and explained it to us and was patient enough to listen to all our moans and groans.”
-
“I cannot think of an organisation that could have tried harder, and with more care and dedication, to try and meet “J’s” needs – Thank you."
-
“We were amazed to receive a postcard from her from the Isle of Wight. She loves the seaside and being only 20 minutes away from South Sea means she can go on sunny days so much more regularly than we could arrange from London. Just watch out for her at the fun fair!“
-
“It’s great that ‘J’ can continue his course at Southampton College. He really enjoys mixing with other students and seems to be coping well with the travel training.”
“Although the home was in centre of Gloucester, the spacious countryside house is safe and secure with lots of room for him to walk around. The local garage is only five minutes walk away so he can get his daily newspaper and can of coke. So he is happy!” -
“With us living in Gloucester, what an advantage for our daughter to be placed with you in Cheltenham. It means we can get a bus now to visit more regularly. Thanks very much for taking us both back into town last week.”
-
“As you know it can be difficult entrusting others to care for someone you love, someone so difficult to care for, yet so vulnerable. I must say that it is reassuring to know that at least for now, he has someone looking after his interests with such professionalism and dedication.”
-
“How pleased we are with the continuous care from all the staff, especially his key worker, who seems to be on the same wavelength as our son.“
-
“This is wonderful for us as parents to know that even with his challenging needs; he can have a good life within his capabilities.”
-
“Please do share with your colleagues how overjoyed we, as ‘P’s’ family were at how happy he is at the home. He’s experienced some appalling homes and we’d started to get really disheartened. The difference in him since he has been with you is amazing!”
